We may be getting new hardware!
General Development News 2008-03-22 by BeachBum
I'm looking into getting us a new server with Win2008 server and IIS7. I've been running PHP on Windows for many years and hope it continues to work well with the newest version of Win Server.
I'm only mentioning this because any time I have done a migration there have been some unexpected downtimes if only waiting for DNS to resolve. Please be patient with us if you see the site down. We're going to do everything in our power to keep the site up during this migration especially because of the wildly popular email validation service that we're running. Thousands of sites are using it to validate their emails and we don't want to interrupt that. -
What are your thoughts on Silverlight?
General Development News 2008-03-19 by BeachBum
Silverlight 2 beta is out and about. I've downloaded the VS2008 demo and the Silverlight add-on. While it's not a perfect technology by any means it does have a lot of potential. There is not a lot of information out about Silverlight yet so I'm gathering a small directory of resources to get people started if they want to look into it. You can find that here:
http://www.bestcodingpractices.com/silverlight_development_resources-2723.html,
if we get enough interest built in Silverlight as a technology I'll setup a tab for it. For now it will have to share. -

Krugle code search engine
General Development News 2006-02-18 by rafe
The idea isnt completely new as its been done before in places like this, but it looks like the new Krugle code search engine is going to take code searching to new heights by being geared specifically to the needs of programmers.
The search engine which is set to debut in March 2006 says that it supports code search by crawling, parsing and indexing code found in all open source repositories, as well as code that exists in archives, mailing lists, blogs, and web pages.
More information on Krugle can be found at its home page www.krugle.com -
